NPQ Application Process

Applications for our Autumn 2024 cohort are now open. Please follow the steps below:

STEP 1

Register through the DfE Portal here (or the Church of England portal) This requires the following information:

  • Teacher Registration Number (TRN
  • Name as recorded by the Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA)
  • Choice of ‘Church of England’ as your provider
  • Once registration is complete the DFE will send the details to Church of England

STEP 2

You will be sent an application from Church of England and CES via email once your details have been sent through from the DfE registration. The form requires:
  • Choice of NPQ  and NPQ Route – ‘Standard’ if applying with Avila
  • Tick the box if you are part of our Leaders Like Us Programme (you will be aware if that is the case)
  • Choice of course start date
  • Choice of Lead Provider – ‘Avila (Region 19, Catholic Schools)’
  • Once completed, a separate form will go to your sponsor (headteacher/principal/line manager) for them to approve your application. This can sometimes be filtered to junk so please ask your sponsor to look out for it. You cannot be offered a place without sponsor agreement.
  • This needs to be returned within 5 days of receipt.

STEP 3

Avila will receive your application and, once your sponsor has endorsed it, will issue a provisional offer – this can take up to a month. We will be in touch if we are unable to accept your application for any reason.

STEP 4

Once you are accepted onto the course, Avila will contact you with NPQ session timings and dates.
